Dead Fish Grill History
In the early 1950s the Army Corps of Engineers started construction of Belton Lake in central Texas. A young entrepreneur had a big idea. During the construction of Belton Lake, Frank Smith sold hot dogs and cold drinks to the construction workers during the hot, Texas, afternoons. He iced down sodas in the family's washtub and cooked hot dogs on a fire. Fifty years later, Frank's legacy lives on through a full-service restaurant and a newly-renovated marina where he began his venture over 55 years ago.
